The software development world is like a complex family tree...even more complex than a Linkedin connection list.
One of the more important individuals in my career will always be a developer/author/speaker named Mike Antonovich. Mike was my first boss, all the way back in 1988. He was the best boss I've ever had.
Unfortunately, the last few years have been very rough for Mike's wife, Sue. Sue has been battling cancer. Things have been up and down, but unfortunately the recent news isn't good. Here is Mike's latest blog entry:

Many people have benefitted in some way from Mike - either as an employee/co-worker, a reader of one of his database books, or just as a developer who benefited from some technical advice that he gave.
And even if you've never heard of Mike's name before, but you've somehow benefitted from anything I've written/done....Mike was my early mentor, and much of what I can do these days traces back in some way to Mike.
Mike and Sue have a daughter who just finished college....she's in her early 20's, did extremely well in school, and from what I've been told, she's mature beyond her years. Many reasons for that, including some awfully good parenting. I hope Sue and Mike will together be able to see the future successes that I'm sure their daughter will achieve. Yes, life is often unfair, but I can still hope.
So please, if you are able, please take a few minutes and send him a message (you can post a comment on his blog) for his wife...whether you pray or just offer your best hopes/wishes is up to you. Thanks...
